Christmas in Leavenworth

It´s my second year going to Leavenworth to see the Christmas lights. And you ask me: Is it worth?

My answer is, if you're in Seattle and don't want to spend a lot of money and spend long hours on the road or catch a plane, yes, it's worth it!

It´s around 2 hours driving from Seattle to Leavenworth, so it´s a quick drive. Always check the weather to see if there´s snow on the road and if it´s open or if you need chains on your wheels. On winter, is highly recommended to have a 4 wheel drive car.

I went on Christmas Day this year, so not all stores were open. So you don't need to arrive very early, because the city is not too big so in a few hours you can see all the shops, eat something and at 4 pm the Christmas lights come on. I arrived at 1 pm and it was kinda early, so I took my time there.

For lunch I went to Sulla Vita restaurant and they had a special menu for Christmas day and I need to say: the food there is delicious! The service was great too. The restaurants can get crowded and that was the only restaurant where there was no lines, so I was very surprised how good was the food. I got creamy scallops as an entree and I was a little afraid because seafood is not super easy to make, but the sauce was creamy but not heavy, there was a lemon flavor that helped a lot to make the sauce lighter and the bacon was not super powerful in there. The only thing is, I wish the scallops hadn't been sliced.

The chocolate and orange tart was amazing! The right amount of orange zest and the chocolate and sweetness was on point. And the best: it´s not a super pricey restaurant.

After that I went to some stores that was open. Most of them was gift and clothes stores.

And around 4 pm the lights was on and I could enjoy that and feel the Christmas vibe. So cute the kids playing on the snow!

So it was quick and nice trip, I enjoyed a lot but no big expectations: it´s a quick escape from Seattle. Be aware that on Christmas day some stores and restaurants are closed and it doesn't have the Christmas attractions that there are in the weeks before.
